PDP Tussle: Court Sacks Ahmed Makarfi, Declares Sheriff Authentic Chairman
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sacked PDP Acting Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi.The court subsequently pronounced Ali Modu Sheriff as legitimate PDP executive.
The court, in a decision by Justice Okon Abang, held that each moves the Committee has made since it rose through a tradition the gathering purportedly held in Port Harcourt on May 21, added up to a nullity.
"Parties have an uncompromising obligation to obey court request until it is put aside. The Lagos Division made requests on May 12 and 20, disallowing the PDP from evacuating the Sheriff drove Caretaker Committee. That request is as yet subsisting.
"Having respect to the request of the court, PDP had no legitimate power to hold the tradition that prompted the development of the Markafi-drove Committee", Justice Abang said.
