UK to help Nigeria overcome economic, security challenges

The United Kingdom will help Nigeria to beat its current monetary and security challenges, UK Minister for International Development, James Wharton, has said.

Wharton told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a meeting in Abuja that he was in Nigeria to survey a portion of the distinct difficulties.


As per him, Nigeria, disregarding the difficulties, has incredible potential in human and characteristic assets, and in addition chances to defeat the present difficulties.

He said: "This is unmistakably a nation with mind blowing opportunity and astounding individuals, with a genuine profound, solid connection and kinship with United Kingdom, however which confronts challenges. The Government of the United Kingdom must help Nigeria to beat a portion of the difficulties, in the general enthusiasm of the general population of Nigeria and the UK.

"There are the security and compassionate issues in the Northeast. There are obviously financial difficulties, the cost of oil hasn't made a difference."

He said there are institutional difficulties, which UK would have the capacity to help and fortify establishments of government and the common society.

"We need to be clear that the UK perceives the size of the difficulties and is focused on supporting Nigeria through what is an extremely troublesome period. Yet, I have undoubtedly Nigeria has a splendid and positive future and the UK has a part to play in that," he said.
