UNILORIN

Charges false, fit for junk can, says varsity administration

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal office blaming a previous bad habit chancellor for the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and his successor (names withheld) of N2 billion misrepresentation.

The appeal, which was put together by the Ibadan Zone Chairman of ASUU, Dr. Ade Adejumo, Chairman, University of Ibadan (UI), Dr. Deji Omole, his Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) partner, Dr. Biodun Olaniran, Kwara State University (KWASU), Dr. Dauda Adeshina and UNILORIN partner, Dr. Kayode Afolayan, blamed the administration for annuity misrepresentation, fake and unremitted conclusions, coercion from understudies, contract expansion and kick-backs, and in addition unlawful installments to ex-important officers of the University, even after they had left the said workplaces and working somewhere else.

In response to the assertions, Head, Corporate Affairs of the college, Kunle Akogun said there was just the same old thing new in the supposed claims, particularly the one on annuity support.

As per Akogun, "These same colleagues made similar affirmations in July this year while shamefacedly kicking against the broadly recognized all around justified arrangement of our previous bad habit chancellor by President Muhammadu Buhari. What's more, obviously, nobody listened to them, as even the president, who is notable for his zero resistance for defilement, is not ignorant of the due perseverance accreditations of progressive organizations of the University of Ilorin."

The college representative said the administration respects the request of and extremely sure that the counter join office would properly entrust it to where it appropriately had a place: the trashcan!

"Our exclusive grouse against the appeal to is the claim by the candidate, Dr. Kayode Afolayan, that he is the Chairman of Unilorin ASUU. He is not", Akogun said.

In the request, the union claimed that the previous VC multiplied the measure of benefits being deducted from staff under the false appearance that the past derivations were lower than recommended by law.

"For the evasion of uncertainty, the lawful least recommended by Pension Act at the time was 7.5 of remittances and the staff were at that point paying even over this base. By method for correlation, in government colleges, for example, University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife the aggregate of N20, 124.62 is deducted from every teacher as annuity commitment every month.

"In any case, at UNILORIN the entirety of N40, 206.42 is deducted month to month for the same "annuity commitment." Contrary to law, the additional conclusions did not get from any concurrence with the specialists; without a doubt, the constrained findings were challenged without any result. For the evasion of uncertainty, the benefits law does not enable a business to strongly deduct over the base from any worker."
